Nursing opportunities abroad: work as a nurse in the Netherlands

Are you a nursing student from the EU and looking for some medical work experience abroad? Then Eduployment is just the right fit for you! We work together with many nursing homes in the Netherlands, which also offer nursing students a lot of opportunities to contribute to their healthcare skills as well as learning about the praised healthcare system in the Netherlands. Great for your degree, even better for your nursing career.

After obtaining a lot of medical work experience at one of the nursinghomes of our partners, you’ll be able to apply for a wide array of nursing jobs in Holland. Whether your dream job is working in a general hospital or a private clinic, you’ll always be working under great conditions and at the end of each month you’ll be paid a competing salary.

In order to do so, you’ll need to be able to communicate with your clients in Dutch. That’s why we’ve developed an educational program. To prepare you for a flourishing medical career in the Netherlands. Read more about the so-called Erasmus+ Internship Program for EU nursing students now and get inspired!

An introductory course

The Erasmus+ Internship Program is meant for nursing students residing in the EU (the program for already certified nurses is found here). It starts with an introductory course which is given in your own home country provided that there are enough participants. If there aren’t enough applicants, following the course elsewhere could be discussed. Anyway, in the introductory course you’ll get acquainted with the most basic and important Dutch words and phrases and costs you only the fee of the study app (a mere €25). We’ll pay for the rest.

Upon completing the introductory course, we’ll invite you over to the Netherlands to truly gain some medical work experience abroad. You’ll be performing ‘activities of daily living’ for our clients, while learning about our healthcare customs and getting to know your possible future colleagues. During this time, you’ll be granted a EU scholarship and free housing is arranged by the nursing home. That means you’ll have more than enough spare time to have fun with new friends and explore the Netherlands!

Follow-up

After a few months in your internship, you’ll decide whether you want to continue working at teh nursing home in the Netherlands. You can also quit with no strings attached if there’s an unhoped-for mismatch. However, continuing means you can sign up for the commitment program for extra benefits and roll into another course in which you’ll learn even more about the Dutch language and our healthcare protocols.

After this course you’ll be taking a state exam, so you can apply a Dutch nurse registration (which is required to apply for nursing jobs). And then you’ll be able to turn your medical work experience abroad into a rewarding career in the Netherlands!
